  • Project lead:
  • Ralph Janik (Ralph Janik (Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität))
  • Elisabeth Christen (WIFO)

The project is dedicated to the development and impact of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) from a European and Austrian perspective on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. It examines the historical context of the WTO's creation, its structural objectives and its relationship with broader societal values such as development and environmental sustainability. The aim of the study is to discuss current challenges, including geopolitical tensions and the stalled Doha Round, and to derive future prospects for the WTO, with a focus on possible reforms.
