JustTransition in Austria – Identification of Affected Regions Hotspot Screening

This project estimates the potential regional impact in terms of employment (and value added) at the level of NACE 2-digit industries in the Austrian districts. The starting point is the transition scenarios at national level of the Federal Environment Agency as well as various potential scenarios that may occur in the context of the transition to climate neutrality. The focus of the analyses is on employment and the associated occupational sectors as key labor market variables. The analysis of these regional impacts should make it possible to identify any regional and sectoral bottlenecks or discrepancies between labour supply and demand that may arise as a result of the expected changes in the transition process or as potential "regional risks". This should also make it possible to identify necessary measures, such as training or retraining offensives.
