In his presentation, Badelt pointed out the considerable additional burdens that are to be expected for public budgets in the long term and that can only be offset by far-reaching structural reforms in the public sector. He also said that the tax structure needed to be rethought in light of a possible decline in the importance of earned income – for example, by shifting the tax burden away from earned income and towards inheritance or technology companies.
