Europe's economy caught between the USA and China – Sigmar Gabriel, Dorothee Bohle and Gabriel Felbermayr
Organised by: Vienna University of Economic and Business

The US administration is increasingly putting into question the USA's trade relations with its North American neighbours and with Europe, turning away from the principles of the World Trade Organization and the United Nations. Will this mark the end of the economic world order as we know it? How should Europe position itself in a multipolar world dominated by the USA, China, and Russia? How can Europe safeguard its economic interests in this complex global environment? And what are the resulting threats and opportunities?

Panel discussion:

Dorothee Bohle, Professor of Comparative Politics, University of Vienna, with a focus on varieties of capitalism, institutional political economy, and welfare states

Gabriel Felbermayr, Director of the Austrian Institute of Economic Research, Full Professor at WU Vienna

Sigmar Gabriel, Former Vice-Chancellor of the Republic of Germany, Chairman of Atlantik-Brücke

Moderated by:

Hannelore Veit, journalist and presenter, long-standing US correspondent
