Katharina Drescher has been working as an economist in the Research Group "Labour Market Economics, Income and Social Security" at WIFO since 2026. She is currently still employed as a research assistant at the University of Passau, where she will complete her Ph.D. in economics this summer. Prior to that, she worked at Statistics Austria and the Austrian National Bank. Her research interests lie in the fields of labour, education, and health economics. A key focus of her work is the empirical study of policy-relevant questions and economic policy measures using applied microeconometric methods and administrative individual-level data. In her research projects, she examines, among other topics, how climatic conditions affect health in the workplace and how school social work influences educational outcomes and youth crime. Her research has already been published in international journals such as the Journal of Public Economics.
