Formal Overqualification: What Has Happened in Austria Over the Past 10 Years?

This article examines the evolution of formal overqualification among workers in Austria since the first PIAAC survey in 2011-12. The analysis focuses on employees aged 30 to 60 in Austria with at least an intermediate level of education. Building on the findings of the most recent survey, it centers on trends in the prevalence of formal overqualification, the role of skill utilisation, and changing demands on workers' qualifications. Methodologically, descriptive analyses and binary logistic models are employed to investigate the determinants.
