Ex-ante analysis of the extension of the integration allowance for older unemployed people under the “Aktion 55+” initiative

As part of the Austrian Federal Government’s proactive measures, the ‘Aktion 55+’ initiative is to be implemented to promote the employment of older unemployed people. This will also involve expanding the targeted use of the integration allowance for this target group. Ex-ante analyses provide an indication of the extent to which the use of the integration allowance could be expanded for older unemployed people and for which target groups this would be appropriate. To this end, the take-up of the integration allowance is analysed, the development of the extent and structure of unemployment among older workers is simulated for the coming years, and, building on this, a possible scenario is drawn up for the use of additional funding for an achievable target group of unemployed people aged 55 and over.
