The Economic Impact of the Meetings Industry in Vienna in 2025

This study quantifies the economic and employment impacts of Vienna's meetings industry for the calendar year 2025 based on a combination of primary and secondary data collection as well as WIFO's regional economic simulation model, ASCANIO. In 2025, a total of 9,627 events took place in Vienna with nearly 881,000 participants, accounting for 12.7 percent of the region's total volume with approximately 2.5 million overnight stays. Taking into account both, the expenditures of the participants and the expenses of organizers, Vienna's meetings industry generated a contribution to the overall economy (direct, indirect, and induced) of 1.48 billion € in nominal gross value added in 2025, as well as 19,300 jobs or 16,020 full-time equivalents throughout Austria. In addition, 610 million € in taxes and social security contributions flowed to the public sector.
