The fifth session of this discussion series is dedicated to the topic "The Importance of Lifelong Learning (LLL) for Vocational Training: Never Enough?". Based on current PIAAC data, key findings on the importance of learning in working life will be presented, and the need for action arising from the declining reading skills of older workers and the tension between upskilling and downskilling will be discussed. In addition, the session will examine the role that informal learning processes play in skill development in relation to structured workplace continuing education.
