On behalf of the Vienna Chamber of Labor (AK Wien), WIFO has conducted a detailed analysis of the gender equality impact and mechanisms of various budget consolidation options in Austria. The study breaks down the channels through which consolidation measures affect key policy areas. Since Austrian policymakers have already announced that upcoming consolidation measures will focus on the expenditure side, this is not an abstract debate – but a highly topical and politically sensitive issue.
