COIN 2.0 – Societal Cost of Inaction
This project builds on previous research on the costs of climate impacts in Austria and aims to enable a consistent and comprehensive quantification of these costs across different fields of impact. While previous studies have already predicted significant annual climate impact costs, many causal chains remain insufficiently understood. "COIN 2.0" addresses these gaps by improving methodological approaches, particularly in the areas of distributional impacts, scenario narratives and synthesised knowledge. The project aims to provide a sound basis for evidence-based climate policy and adaptation strategies in Austria. WIFO is leading work package 8, which aims to assess the impact of climate change on winter and summer tourism, taking into account different adaptation options.
