Inflation und Außenwirtschaft
The study takes the recent wave of inflation as an opportunity to analyse the relationship between inflation and foreign trade in all its facets. In order to do justice to this comprehensive claim, we pursue a multi-layered approach: we analyse the macroeconomic causes of the changing correlations between inflation and foreign trade, examine the role of market openness and exchange rates, provide evidence at company and product level and discuss the effectiveness of economic policy measures. The diversity of the underlying research questions requires the use of a wide variety of methodological procedures such as theoretically based equilibrium models, macroeconometric vector autoregressions, gravity models of foreign trade and macroeconomic world models.
