Thomas Leoni is Senior Economist at WIFO and has been working in the Research Group "Labour Market, Income and Social Security"
since 2005. From 2012 to 2017 he was a Research Economist at the Disability Research Center of the National Bureau of Economic
Research (NBER). He held numerous teaching assignments at various universities and is currently lecturer in Economic Policy
at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Wien) and member of the Ethics Committee of the Danube University Krems.
His areas of expertise include industrial relations, income distribution, comparative welfare state and social policy analysis,
as well as health-related labour market topics. He participated and held coordinating positions in a large number of projects
for national and international stakeholders. After degrees from the University of Bologna (Diploma di Laurea in Philosophy)
and the Johns Hopkins University (M.A. in International Economics and European Studies), he completed a doctorate in Economics
at the WU Wien. He was visiting researcher at the Institute for Social and Economic Research of the University of Essex, at
the Centre for Economic and International Studies of the Università di Roma Tor Vergata and at the Institute for the Economics
of Inequality of the WU Wien. Thomas Leoni is the author of numerous studies, book chapters and publications in peer-reviewed
journals, including the Scandinavian Journal of Economics, Social Science Research and Small Business Economics.
