Of this amount, 64.1 percent was accounted for by foreign visitors, 35.6 percent by domestic travellers, and 0.3 percent was spent in the course of staying in second homes. In 2018, value added generated directly by tourism activities in Salzburg, including business travel, came up to 3,446 million \u20ac and thereby accounted for a share in the gross regional product of 12.0 percent. The total value-added effects of tourism in Salzburg contributed 15.9 percent to the regional economic output. Moreover, 34,000 full-time jobs (FTE based on employees and self-employed persons) in the state can be attributed directly to typical tourism industries (share of 12.4 percent in total employment).
