Of this amount, 54.0 percent was accounted for by foreign visitors, 45.4 percent by domestic travellers, and 0.7 percent was spent in the course of staying in second homes. In 2018, value added generated directly by tourism activities in Vienna, including business travel, came up to 3,764 million \u20ac and thereby accounted for a share in the gross regional product of 3.9 percent. The total value-added effects of tourism in Vienna contributed 5.7 percent to the regional economic output. Moreover, 42,300 full-time jobs (FTE based on employees and self-employed persons) in the state can be attributed directly to typical tourism industries (share of 4.7 percent in total employment).
