The study sheds light on the subject areas of living, working, housing and mobility. Their sub-areas are considered as important aspects for quality of life and life satisfaction. In addition to individual perceptions of the current situation, the survey also focuses on the expectations of Lower Austria's inhabitants for the future. A special focus is put on differences and similarities in the assessments of different age groups (especially the youth) and on the regions of Lower Austria. Considering the present situation, among others, the results show a strong social and regional solidarity, a high degree of life satisfaction, importance of self-determination, but also concerns regarding the work load, further education, work-life-balance and housing costs. As regards mobility, individual automobile use dominates. Commuting is accepted, although public transport is often considered as inadequate. Evaluating the expectations for the future, increasing solidarity with family and friends but also a higher pessimism regarding life satisfaction, regional ties, self-determination or active municipal participation is observed. At the same time, it is expected that both work load and housing cost burden will continue to rise. Flexible working time models can help to achieve a better balance, and alternative forms of housing or adjustments in housing preferences are also seen as an option. It is also expected that the use of public transport and sharing services will increase.","onlinedate":"2021-02-24
