Building upon this database, a prototype application is presented: efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are likely to lead to a decrease in demand for motor vehicles but will certainly lead to a shift away from conventional motor vehicles and towards alternative, lower-emission (or zero-emission) propulsion systems. Austria has a significant (supply) industry for conventional motor vehicles. The application demonstrates the regional (and sectoral) impact of such a shift, but also the opportunities it could bring about.
