Based on a survey of municipalities, this article analyses the current situation of long-term care provision in the municipalities and gives an outlook on the future from the municipalities' point of view in order to define the scope for action in terms of long-term care policy. The results show that municipalities are not sufficiently involved in the L\u00e4nder's demand and development plans and do not engage in systematic demand planning. The municipalities are in favour of establishing regional care information centres with a monitoring function in order to offer citizens a contact point, but also to create an information basis for demand planning.
