There are differences in particular between men and women: almost every second woman is employed part-time, but only one in ten men. The gender specific distribution of working time is greatly affected by the unequal distribution of care responsibilities and thus the division between paid employment and unpaid family work. However, the working time profiles of the employed vary not only by gender but also by age, industry, occupation, education and household composition.
