Based on an extensive data set important developments and major challenges are presented. The results on the future development are mostly projections of trends but some results are based on forecasts. Such perspectives are therefore trend extrapolations assuming other factors than time have no influence. The facts and projections presented in this document were developed for a strategy development process which uses this material to identify measures that should be taken to attain favourable future goals.
