Die Studie zeigt zun\u00e4chst, dass die beiden Konzepte sehr \u00e4hnlich sind und sich vor allem in der Preisbereinigung unterscheiden. Sowohl die bereinigte Lohnquote als auch die realen Lohnst\u00fcckkosten sind seit Ende der siebziger Jahre in \u00d6sterreich, Deutschland und den meisten anderen EU-L\u00e4ndern, aber auch in den USA merklich zur\u00fcckgegangen. In der empirischen Untersuchung wird den Ursachen f\u00fcr die Entwicklung der Lohnquote nachgegangen. Dabei zeigt sich, dass das Wirtschaftswachstum, der Trend der Arbeitslosenquote und die Inflationsrate die wichtigsten Determinanten bilden. Eine Beschleunigung des Wirtschaftswachstums im Konjunkturzyklus senkt \u00fcber steigende Investitionen und Gewinne den Lohnanteil am Volkseinkommen. Steigende Arbeitslosigkeit wirkt wegen der ung\u00fcnstigeren Verhandlungsposition der Arbeitnehmer in die gleiche Richtung. H\u00f6here (importierte) Inflation hat eine Zunahme des Lohnanteils zur Folge.
