Ausgehend von nicht ganz unrealistischen Szenarien, wonach politisch die Erweiterung scheitern k\u00f6nnte, werden aufgrund der wichtigsten Makrovariablen (BIP, Besch\u00e4ftigte, Verbraucherpreise) Kosten in Form entgangener Integrationsgewinne f\u00fcr \u00d6sterreich abgeleitet. Die \u00f6konomischen Verluste einer um ein Jahr verz\u00f6gerten Erweiterung um die 10 L\u00e4nder, deren EU-Beitritt f\u00fcr 2004 vorgesehen ist, betragen demnach 0,13% des realen BIP (bei einer Verz\u00f6gerung um sechs Jahre 0,80% des BIP), 1.300 (bzw. 8.000) Besch\u00e4ftigte und eine Steigerung der Inflationsrate um 0,3 Prozentpunkte (bzw. 2 Prozentpunkte).
