Die Produzenten sind in der EU mit zunehmendem Wettbewerbsdruck durch Importe aus Niedriglohnl\u00e4ndern, einem tendenziell stagnierenden Produktionsvolumen und r\u00fcckl\u00e4ufiger Besch\u00e4ftigung konfrontiert. Die vorliegende Studie analysiert die Perspektiven der heimischen Textilindustrie vor dem Hintergrund der europ\u00e4ischen Entwicklungen. Empirische Befunde aus der Industriestatistik und der vom WIFO durchgef\u00fchrten Unternehmensbefragung TEXTIL 2000+ zeigen, dass die \u00f6sterreichische Textilbranche durch ihre Anpassungsleistungen in den neunziger Jahren eine vergleichsweise gute Wettbewerbsposition \u2013 \u00fcberdurchschnittliche Steigerung von Wertsch\u00f6pfung und Produktivit\u00e4t \u2013 erreicht hat. Eine Strategie zur Verbesserung der Wettbewerbsf\u00e4higkeit setzt in der Textilindustrie vielfach bei unternehmens\u00fcbergreifenden, regionalen Kooperationen an, etwa in Oberitalien und Nordrhein-Westfalen.
