Im Rahmen der Studie werden international vergleichbare Informationen zur Wettbewerbsfähigkeit des Wirtschafts- und Innovationsstandortes
Wien im Vergleich mit anderen europäischen Großstadtregionen ermittelt und in einem konsistenten Bericht zusammengeführt.
Dazu werden internationale Vergleichsdaten für Wien und relevante Konkurrenzstädte in Europa in harmonisierter Form aufbereitet
und vergleichend analysiert. Auf dieser Basis werden die Stärken und Schwächen der Wiener Stadtwirtschaft in der europäischen
Städtehierarchie herausgearbeitet und daraus Hinweise zu erfolgversprechenden Handlungsoptionen und Maßnahmenlinien im Rahmen
einer weiteren Optimierung der Wettbewerbsposition Wiens abgeleitet. Dabei werden auch die erreichten Spezialisierungen und
kritischen Massen in den thematischen Stärkefeldern analysiert, welche nach den Festlegungen der neuen Wirtschafts- und Innovationsstrategie
für Wien in den nächsten Jahren zu international sichtbaren "Spitzenthemen" ausgebaut werden sollen.

Fifth report on the International Competitiveness of Vienna
The aim of the study is to identify internationally comparable information on the competitiveness of Vienna as a business
and innovation location in comparison to other European metropolitan regions and to compile this information in a consistent
report. To this end, relevant international comparative data for Vienna and competing city regions in Europe will be prepared
and analysed in a harmonised way. On this basis, the strengths and weaknesses of the Viennese city economy in the European
city hierarchy will be identified, and from this, indications for promising options for action and measures will be derived
in order to further optimise Vienna's competitive position in the European city hierarchy. The project also includes an analysis
of the specialisations and critical masses achieved in the thematic fields of strength, which are to be developed into internationally
visible "top issues" in the coming years according to the new economic and innovation strategy for Vienna.
