In der oberösterreichischen Volkswirtschaft spielt der Tourismus eine bedeutende Rolle: Laut dem von Statistik Austria und
WIFO entwickelten regionalen Tourismus-Satellitenkonto für Oberösterreich erreichten die Gesamtausgaben für Urlaubs- und Geschäftsreisen,
Verwandten- und Bekanntenbesuche sowie Aufenthalte in Wochenendhäusern und Zweitwohnungen 2009 3,02 Mrd. € (–5,5% gegenüber
dem Vorjahr). Davon entfielen 72,2% auf inländische Reisende, 27,4% auf ausländische Reisende und 0,4% auf die Ausgaben im
Zuge von Aufenthalten in Wochenendhäusern bzw. an Zweitwohnsitzen. Das Volumen der direkten Wertschöpfungseffekte des Tourismus
in Oberösterreich erreichte 1,45 Mrd. € (–4,1%); dies entspricht rein rechnerisch einem Anteil am Bruttoregionalprodukt von
3,2%. Der Beitrag der direkten und indirekten Wertschöpfung des Tourismus zur oberösterreichischen Gesamtwirtschaft betrug
2009 auf Basis der Input-Output-Tabelle 2005 6,0%.

A Tourism Satellite Account for Upper Austria. Economic Relationships, Methods and Main Results for 2009
Tourism plays an important part in the economy of Upper Austria: according to the regional Tourism Satellite Account (TSA)
developed by Statistics Austria and WIFO for Upper Austria, total spending on holiday and business travel, visits to relatives
and friends and stays at weekend homes and second homes was € 3.02 billion in 2009 (a minus of 5.5 percent over the previous
year). Of this amount, 72.2 percent was spent by Austrian travellers, 27.4 percent by foreign travellers and 0.4 percent was
spent in the context of stays at weekend and second homes. The volume of direct value added by tourism in Upper Austria was
€ 1.45 billion (a minus of 4.1 percent), which comes out as 3.2 percent of the gross regional product. Based on the input-output
table of 2005, tourism added 6.0 percent in direct and indirect value to the economy of Upper Austria in 2009.
