Der Tourismus spielt in der oberösterreichischen Volkswirtschaft eine bedeutende Rolle: Laut dem von Statistik Austria und
dem WIFO entwickelten regionalen Tourismus-Satellitenkonto für Oberösterreich erreichten die Gesamtausgaben für Urlaubs- und
Geschäftsreisen, Verwandten- und Bekanntenbesuche sowie Aufenthalte in Wochenendhäusern und Zweitwohnungen 2006 2,87 Mrd.
€. Davon entfielen 77,0% auf inländische Reisende, 19,1% auf ausländische Gäste und 3,9% auf die Ausgaben von inländischen
Reisenden in Wochenendhäusern und Zweitwohnungen. Die direkten Wertschöpfungseffekte des Tourismus betrugen 1,25 Mrd. €; dies
entspricht rein rechnerisch einem Anteil am Bruttoregionalprodukt von 3,0%. Der Beitrag der direkten und indirekten Wertschöpfung
des Tourismus zur oberösterreichischen Gesamtwirtschaft machte 2006 auf Basis der Input-Output-Tabelle 2000 6,8% (2003 revidiert
6,7%).

A Tourism Satellite Account for Upper Austria. The Economics, Methodology and Main Results for 2006
Tourism is of considerable importance to the economy of Upper Austria: according to the regional Tourism Satellite Account
(TSA) developed for Upper Austria by Statistics Austria and WIFO, total spending on holiday and business trips, visits to
relatives and friends, and stays in weekend houses and second homes made up € 2.87 billion in 2006. Of this sum, 77.0 percent
was spent by domestic travellers, 19.1 percent by foreign guests and 3.9 percent by Austrians in their weekend houses and
second homes. Tourism created € 1.25 billion in direct value added, corresponding to a 3.0 percent share of the gross regional
product in purely mathematical terms. Based on the input-output table for 2000, direct and indirect value added by tourism
to the totality of the Upper Austrian economy was 6.8 percent in 2006 (2003: 6.7 percent revised).
