Videos: Margit Schratzenstaller at Hearings of the European Parliament and the German Bundestag

In March 2021, WIFO economist Margit Schratzenstaller contributed her budget expertise to several high level hearings in the Budget and Gender Equality Committees of the European Parliament and the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag.

Margit Schratzenstaller participated as an expert in a public hearing of the Budget Committee of the German Bundestag on the European Union's own resources and on the COVID-19 recovery plan on 22 March 2021. In addition to the regular Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for the period 2021 to 2027, this also includes the temporary NextGenerationEU (NGEU) recovery package, whose quantitatively most significant instrument is the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). "Overall, NGEU holds great potential to strengthen cohesion in the EU and support important EU objectives", Schratzenstaller said in her statement. "The introduction of new own resources is one of the biggest advances of the agreement on the recovery plan", she said.

In the public hearing of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets on 17 March 2021, Schratzenstaller discussed with Jean Pisani-Ferry (Bruegel) and Pascal Saint Amans (OECD) about "Financing the EU budget: new own resources and possible other revenue".

Already on 16 March 2021, she spoke in the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality of the European Parliament on "Applying gender mainstreaming in the EU recovery package".

A recording of the hearing is available here.
