Mag. Marian Fink

Function: Senior Economist
Research groups: Labour Economics, Income and Social Security
  • Marian Fink has been working as an Economist in the WIFO Research Group "Labour Economics, Income and Social Security" since 2014. His research focusses on the empirical analysis of labour market and social policy, income distribution and the redistributive role of the state, among others addressing the relationship between the design of the unemployment insurance system and its impact on the unemployment duration and re-entry and the distributional effects of economic and tax policy measures. His work also includes regular analyses of the gender pay gap. He is also involved in the development and application of static and dynamic microsimulation models. His projects include studies and evaluations at the regional, national and European level. In the FairTax project funded by the EU Research and Innovation programme Horizon 2020, he used microsimulation to examine the gender-specific effects of changes in tax bases, rates and units in selected EU member countries. After studying Economics at the University of Vienna (Magister) and before joining WIFO, he worked at the National Research Network The Austrian Center for Labor Economics and the Analysis of the Welfare State at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), the University of Vienna and the University of Linz, where he is currently finishing the PhD Programme in Economics.
