Die Weltkonjunktur verlor im Laufe des Jahres 2011 an Schwung. Im Euro-Raum lassen die Konjunkturindikatoren eine Stagnation
der Wirtschaft in der ersten Jahreshälfte 2012 erwarten. Dies belastet auch die österreichische Wirtschaft. Allerdings sind
Anzeichen einer Konjunkturstabilisierung zu erkennen. Dennoch dürfte das heimische BIP im I. Quartal nicht wachsen. Der Arbeitsmarkt
bleibt als Folge dieser gedämpften Entwicklung eingetrübt. Die Inflation geht hingegen zurück.

Economic activity lost momentum globally and especially in the euro area over the course of 2011. In the euro area, economic
indicators point to persistent stagnation in the first half of 2012. This development is also weighing on the Austrian economy.
However, signs are also emerging that it may be stabilising. Nevertheless, the Austrian economy is unlikely to grow in the
first quarter. Labour market conditions remain bleak, reflecting the subdued development. Inflation, by contrast, is receding.
The global economy lost momentum over the course of 2011. In the euro area, economic indicators point to economic stagnation
in the first half of 2012. This is also weighing on the Austrian economy. However, there are tentative signs of a stabilisation
in economic activity. Nevertheless, Austrian GDP is not likely to grow in the first quarter. Labour market conditions remain
bleak, reflecting this subdued development. Inflation, by contrast, is receding.
