Europas Wirtschaft in der Rezession – heimische Wirtschaftspolitik dämpft den Abschwung. Prognose für 2009 und 2010 (The European Economy in Recession – Domestic Policy Action Cushioning the Downturn. Economic Outlook for 2009 and 2010)
Der Abschwung der Weltwirtschaft wird durch die internationale Finanzkrise beträchtlich verschärft. Die realwirtschaftlichen
Auswirkungen für die europäische Wirtschaft fallen überraschend heftig aus. Für den Euro-Raum wird für 2009 ein Rückgang des
BIP um real 1,2% prognostiziert. Auch die österreichische Wirtschaft wird sich diesem Abwärtstrend nicht entziehen können.
Allerdings dämpft die außerordentlich expansive Fiskalpolitik den Abschwung. Die heimische Wirtschaftsleistung wird 2009 um
nur 0,5% schrumpfen. Im Zuge der leichten Belebung der internationalen Konjunktur ab 2010 sollte die österreichische Wirtschaft
wieder um 0,9% wachsen.

The European Economy in Recession – Domestic Policy Action Cushioning the Downturn. Economic Outlook for 2009 and 2010
Starting from the USA, the economic downturn has meanwhile reached the entire world economy. The financial crisis is exacerbating
the slackening of global business activity. In the euro area, demand and output are set to contract by 1.2 percent in 2009.
In Austria, too, real GDP is likely to edge down by 0.5 percent, despite powerful stimulus provided by fiscal policy. The
projection for growth picking up by 0.9 percent on annual average 2010 is based on the assumption that activity will gradually
recover as from late 2009.
